Abstract
Files and testimonies of those repatriated Chinese laborers,
who were abducted to Japan, were uncovered and studied. For the
first time, based on these data, this paper describes,
systematically, the repatriation policies of the US and Japan, and
the reception procedure of the Chinese Nationalist Government as
well as the entire process of repatriation. Moreover, also for
the first time, this paper, based on the newly found documents,
examines and clarifies the major residual issues of the abducted
Chinese laborers. These issues include important data on the
number of abducted laborers, the number repatriated by Japan and
the US, the number of Chinese laborers who died in Japan, and the
issues on “wages” and reparations.
